A Little Furniture Company
We have just bought a fabulous footstool for the drawing-room at Tall John’s House from A Little Furniture Company and we are absolutely thrilled with the quality and service. Two of our daughters had already bought from the company and gave us strong recommendations.
Company History
A Little Furniture Shop opened its doors in May 2001.
Mark had been running his re-upholstery business for 12 years, selling some restored pieces through Antique Centres and Interior Designers, but had always wanted a retail outlet of his own.
His wife, Heather, had worked in sales for years and they decided to combine their strengths and open a shop of their own.
As Heather had worked for Yellow Pages, the idea of the actual name “A Little Furniture Shop” was in order to be at the front of the classification. The internet hadn't started to become readily available but now how they laugh!
Victorian & Edwardian furniture was popular when they first opened and it was, and still is, always about quality. Quality furniture, restored and re-upholstered to last another lifetime. They don't like throw away furniture. As times moved on, they introduced a selection of hand-made furniture, made from scratch by Mark.
The beauty about the furniture they make is that it can be made to size. We have chosen a really big footstool so that, when we have large groups of friends or family staying, the footstool can be a super sitting space in the middle of the sofas for conversations to flow well. But you can have a small or large footstool, deeper or shallower sofa. You have a choice of legs, and the fabric choice is endless. They are always happy to advise on what suits your lifestyle. They know what fabric will work best for you because they want it to last.
They also usually make their own deliveries which means they know the furniture arrives in one piece!
And now in 2019, almost 18 years on, they are still in their original little shop on the best independent retail street in the UK- Wyle Cop, Shrewsbury. When you buy from them, you are speaking to the owners, maker and delivery drivers. All their pieces are individually made and restored so you won't find exactly the same in other homes, unless of course you have two!
