Humanist Wedding

Here at Tall John’s Weddings we are delighted to welcome any couples wanting to join together in a way that is special to them and there are very many different ways of doing this. A Humanist wedding can fit the bill for some couples.

A Humanist wedding can take place anywhere 'safe and dignified' ‐so it could be anywhere from your living room to a mountain top in the Brecon Beacons and, unlike civil ceremonies conducted by a registrar, Humanist weddings do not require couples to get a special license. A Humanist wedding is completely secular (ie non‐religious with no hymns, prayers or Bible readings).

The duration of the ceremony will depend on the amount of content you choose to include. The more readings, music, and other elements you include can increase the duration, but for most couples the service lasts about 25-35 minutes.

Humanist weddings are perfect for couples who would like a meaningful ceremony that isn't religious and to marry outdoors or at a location that isn't licensed for civil weddings.

In England and Wales the current legal position is that a humanist wedding or partnership ceremony must be supplemented by obtaining a civil marriage or partnership certificate through a Register Office. This can be done at any time and not particularly when you are celebrating your Humanist wedding.

Humanist approach to life

Humanism is an approach to life based on reason and our common humanity, recognizing that moral values are properly founded on human nature and experience alone.

Couples wanting non-religious weddings which are very personal and meaningful have been enjoying Humanist ceremonies for the past couple of decades.

At Tall John’s Weddings we are delighted to welcome couples who wish for a Humanist Wedding and also if they wish for a civil ceremony of some sort to make the commitment legal under UK law we can offer this in our garden gazebo or in our newly furnished Granary.
