Stockenbridge Break at Tall John’s House

All the team at Tall John’s House are excited about our new venture which is to host a rather different type of Bridge Weekend organised by the wonderful Stockenbridge Breaks.

Liza has actually enjoyed the experience of a Stockenbridge weekend and came away having learned a great deal more about bridge but also having had a lot of fun and met some new friends. The tuition was clear, demanding but not intimidating.

The course is run by the brother and sister team of Zeb and Claudia Stocken. Zeb has had many years of teaching bridge and organising bridge breaks and Claudia, a very experienced bridge player herself, is always on hand to help and ensure the smooth running of the weekend.

We need to stress this weekend is not aimed at bridge players who want to play serious 24 board duplicate every night! We can accommodate pretty much everyone but if complete beginners wish to join us they do need to come as a group of 4. All bridge sessions are of course optional and non-playing partners are also very welcome!

The tuition sessions will use Compass cards (set deals) and there will also be supervised play and some form of duplicate play with prizes to be won!

Our team at Tall John’s House, headed by our housekeeper Liz, will be making sure you are comfortable and relaxed. We are not a hotel so meals will all be taken together at our large dining-room table and we hope you will enjoy the more intimate “house party” atmosphere. There are lots of wonderful things to do in the area and we hope to organise a couple of special trips. The gardens are great and the area is wonderful for walking.

Of course no bridge weekend is wonderful unless the food is delicious and our in-house cook, Ken, will ensure that. We are not a restaurant but our food is locally sourced and freshly cooked just for you.

The dates are 13th to 16th September so please come and enjoy the Brecon Beacons this autumn.
