Wedding Fairs

Nowadays it seems that almost every engaged couple wants to visit a wedding fair before making any final decisions about their own wedding.. And there are plenty to choose from as the UK currently has 643 wedding fairs, bridal shows and exhibitions in the pipeline.

So why do people feel the need to visit a wedding fair and what should you hope to achieve?

1. See a large range of suppliers

If you are going for a “blank canvas” venue such as Tall John’s House this is a very important opportunity. Most blank canvas venues will have their own suppliers’ list but it is good to do a bit of research for yourself as well.

You may get some brand new ideas for wedding cake designers to confetti makers or singing waiters and so much more. These suppliers will be experts in their industry so visit any fair armed with a list of questions and your wedding date in mind, if possible. You may end up booking your suppliers on the day you visit, so be prepared to put down a deposit if required. You may also find that certain suppliers have a ‘show offer’, meaning they’ll offer a discount specifically for couples booking them whilst at the show; be prepared to make swift decisions and don’t forget your cheque book!

2. Your Dress and other outfits

There is nearly always a good selection of suppliers offering the latest designs in bridalwear, groomswear, bridesmaids dresses, flowergirl dresses, pageboys outfits and bridal accessories. When you get home you can look up the different designers that you specifically liked, to see the dresses and accessories up close and personal. Again, be prepared to put down a deposit or even carry your perfect wedding dress home with you that very evening.

You can also take a look at make-up artists and wedding day hair specialists and find people who are close to your venue to book for the wedding day.

3. Other Products

The choice of other products will be enormous. You may come across a teeth whitening booth, beauty suppliers, wedding flowers, ideas for wedding table decorations. You may also want to buy wedding products such as invitations, place settings or names, wedding rings, nail polish, wedding favours or wedding accessories, so on top of your cheque book, you might want to bring some cash along as well.

4. Have a really good time

Now this is always something to do! A happy day with friends or family is a memory worth treasuring and surely the very best way to start your wedding plans.

So in summary Wedding Fairs are a great experience but don’t get carried away! Although you can get good deals by deciding and putting down a deposit there and then, the downside is that you may feel a bit excited and rush into something you regret later. But have a wonderful day – have a laugh – but keep your own style as it’s your wedding after all.
