Weekend Get-Togethers in a Country House

We have lovely groups to say with us throughout the autumn, winter and early spring - either for a three or four generation family gathering or perhaps a big birthday celebration. Lots of bedrooms all with their own bathrooms, billiard table, table tennis, lots of gardens, wood-burners, an in-house chef who cooks to your requirements, no corkage... What’s not to like?

If the weather is kind of course the area of the Brecon Beacons National Park offers masses of choice - walking, cycling, climbing, sailing, fishing, riding, golf etc etc

But the winter weekends can be less attractive weather-wise and quite a few of our groups find themselves something to entertain the whole party inside.

This weekend our guests celebrated a big birthday bringing a golf simulator with them. Our Granary is ideal for this and it certainly gave everyone a great afternoon of fun. Most golf simulators allow you to play a variety of courses with your own clubs and balls indoors... This isn't Wii Sports golf or those lame arcade games with the trackball, either. These simulators are high-tech machines that can improve your game but also give a lot of pleasure to the whole group.

Other groups hire Laserclayz from Hereford who bring over the whole kit and give fantastic entertainment to any level or age of guest with so little fuss it makes the whole afternoon a joy.

We've had mystery murder organizers come overand that has certainly sounded a riot!

We have welcomed very jolly groups to play bridge or board games – especially bridge and of course chess.

Even a choral group came to practice!

Our most popular weekend entertainment for a group is certainly some form of yoga or pilates; often just a group of friends who want to come away and chill with the yoga or pilates very much as and add-on activity.

Has anyone got any other ideas for winter weekends?
