A Self-Catering Cottage in the Brecon Beacons
The Brecon Beacons National Park is so beautiful and has such varied scenery and such a wealth of activities on offer that it is no surprise that there is an abundance of properties to rent for the many visitors who come to us each year.
We have two self-catering cottages in the grounds of our Georgian Manor House. They are very different in style, size and amenities and I wonder what makes them so popular?
Here is a short list of the issues that our guests tell us drive their choices for a sel-catering holiday:-
Location: well we’ve already covered that!
Size: we have a 3-4 bedroom cottage that will sleep up to 8 people and it’s important to our guests that the kitchen and living area are spacious too. But the cottage that is always in demand is our charming 1 bedroomed cottage, The Coachmans, for just 2 people. This may be because it is more difficult to pin other people down to dates etc but also so many couples want a few days away walking, sightseeing or just chilling together
Isolation: this is so much personal preference. Some people like to be absolutely alone like Greta Garbo but others prefer to be private but not isolated… horses for courses!
The bed: our guests all enjoy our big, comfortable beds and it is high on their priority list
Linen: we make all our beds up with white bedlinen and provide towels. Everyone is busy and doesn’t want the hassle of bringing all their own bedding down like the old days!
Heating: it’s something all our guests expect and some of them want it on in August! We do say then “perhaps you could put on a jersey rather than kill another polar bear!”
Lashings of hot water: after a wonderful day walking, fishing, canoeing, biking everyone needs a piping hot bath or shower
Outside space: there is not much point coming to this stunning area if you can’t sit outside with a drink or a cup of coffee and soak it up
Open fire: our winter guests certainly relish our woodburner in The Coachmans. It just creates a cosy atmosphere for an evening in
Kit: those little extras like a coffee machine, a BBQ, an iron etc make all the difference
