What makes a good wedding photographer?
What does your wedding day mean to you? After the cake is eaten, the dress is put away and the honeymoon is over, how do you want to look back and remember your wedding day?
We all have very specific ideas of what we would and would not like our photographs to be and, also very importantly, how we feel the sessions will impact on the enjoyment of our guests.
As an experienced “mother of the bride”, I feel very strongly that your guests, who have made a great effort to be with you, should not have to wait around for ages while the bridal couple and family have endless photos taken.
So it’s good to have a photographer with some organizational skill – someone who has perhaps made a list beforehand of what group photos are wanted (if any) and what specific shots the couple want.
Some brides love shots of themselves getting ready, having their hair done, dressing the flower girls, doing up their wedding dresses. Some don’t!
So many choices!
Do you want informal, off-the-cuff pictures or do you want more studied and staged photos? Black and White? Colour?
So actually the most important quality in a wedding photographer is to be flexible enough to adapt to your couple’s requirements. To be charming and friendly so they feel happy about asking for things and to be organized and professional enough to steer them on the right road to having a bucket load of happy memories of their day.
On our suppliers list we are pleased to have the super Rhian Clarke of www.rhianclarkephotography.com. She specialises in natural, creative and emotive wedding photography so that any couple can look back on their day and see how their story unfolded. So that throughout the years the memories will still be as clear as the day you married each other. And most importantly, she ensures that being photographed on your wedding day is going to be happy, fun and without stress!
If you look at our gallery and recent weddings you will see some of her lovely pictures of our most recent wedding of Alicia and Curtis at the end of April. It was a really happy family day and Rhian has expressed this beautifully in her pictures.
