Design your own Wedding or Engagement Ring?
Imet Jemma from Slade Fine Jewellery in the queue at the Post Office. I was posting a watch left behind after Christmas by my little grand-daughter, Willa.
Jemma’s package was much more interesting. She was posting off a pair of wedding rings!
Jemma studied at the famous Central St Martins College of Art and Design in London. She then joined the production department of iconic luxury jewellery brand Solange Azagury- Partridge and worked with Solange for 4 years on London’s Bond Street and in London’s eponymous jewellery district Hatton Garden before returning home to Wales to establish Slade Fine Jewellery, a luxury brand all of her own.
Jemma loves bespoke commissions. Whether a secret engagement ring or carefully considered wedding bands, the journey to creating a unique and precious final piece is as special as the final piece itself.
Jemma works closely with each client to create a collection of mood-boards, drawings, designs and prototypes to ensure that the final piece is exactly what is desired. Communication is easy in this modern day.
Jemma prides herself on using both Eco Gold and Eco Silver.
Both Eco gold and Eco silver are exactly the same as everyday gold and silver apart from one very special difference…..they are a fantastic eco-friendly 100% recycled alternative. These Eco Friendly precious metals are recycled from scrap metal accumulated from various industries such as the jewellery, giftware and electrical industries.
Using Eco gold and silver promotes a healthier jewellery industry. It is cleaner, greener, eco -friendly and vastly more ethical than newly mined gold and silver. It discourages the need for further mining which can sometimes be associated with both human and environmental problems.
Using Eco gold and silver does not hinder the fine jewellery making process in any way, nor does it make it any less luxurious. In fact, it can make a piece of fine jewellery even more special.
Jemma is also registered with the Fair-trade Foundation to use Fair-trade Gold . This service is available for bespoke items made out of 18ct yellow and 18ct white gold.
And all of the gemstones used in Jemma’s work are ethically sourced and conflict free. Jemma sources coloured gemstones from a small number of experienced trusted suppliers with strong ethical values.
